Genre you're right nothing else is acceptable but a championship after all the misery they've put generations of fans through. You are not affending me at all, I agree 100 %. My point of the 95 wins (which is a mediocre finish at that) is that it should be enough to get them the division and home field throughout the NL playoffs. I really do think for this team, if they get to the playoffs, to get to the World Series they are gonna have to have homefield. Of course they are screwed on homefield if they get to the WS because of Dan U Uggla.

Win 95 games? So what? Who fucking cares?

Piniella won 116 one year managing Seattle...and didn't make it to a WS. I bet he wasn't satisfied.

After 99 years of LOSING, nothing short of a WS victory is really acceptable (is it?)...the monkey/goat won't be off the Cub's backs until that is accomplished.

Sorry if that offends anybody...but that IS the legacy...and this Cubs organization has bought it upon themselves...they've earned it.

TRULY PATHETIC.

Erniesarmy take it easy dude! Has to throw that dusty term in there. The Cubs have really sucked lately and I'm worried as hell that they are gonna blow this too. But as the whole season goes it has not been as bad as you are making it out to be. These fuckers still got a chance to win 95 games, if they get they're shit together. Hell they only got to go 9-10 to accomplish that . How many of you thought that would be possible this year?? I know I didn't. You want to get rid of Theriot??? He's been the most consistent hitter in the lineup all year. He's the only Cubs batting over .300 with an obp over .390. He isn't the greatest defensive shortstop but he is not terrible by all means. And you want Pie back in center. Why?? So we can all complain how the fuckers can't hit for shit. He is a great defensive player but it's not enough to make up for his liabilities at the plate. What it boils down too is a lot of these players are having a steady to good year. They just got to stop playing so godamn tight and just start playing like they did the first 5 months of the season. I'm 30 & this is the best Cubs team I have ever seen, I just hope they don't ruin this whole thing in the last month. I don't know if I could take another collapse again

If the Cubs get to the World Series, they would have to lose to Tampa-keeping their record of choking against expansion teams intact.

That means bye bye Theriot, Cedeno, and Edmonds. We need a good defensive shortstop, and a good defensive centerfielder (Felix Pie). Put DeRosa as our regular second baseman, get a new first baseman, a new shortstop, and a new rightfielder.

This would be my starting rotation (not in any particular order): Samardjza, Zambrano, Dempster, Marquis, Marshall. Harden is a very good pitcher, but he is too injury prone, and Lilly's "stuff" is just a liability.

My bullpen is: Marmol (closer), Gaudin, Guzman, and others they can get through trade. Wood has too much "loser Cubbie" in him let him go too.

Like I said before, the new owners have got to fumigate the stench of losing from this team before we can ever see a championship.

Of course, if the Cubs win it all this year...then strike everything I said!!!

"Police note Rosario, who was wearing a red Cubs shirt and blue Cubs hat, refused to cooperate with officers and had blood shot eyes and smelled of alcohol."

Well at least he came ready to play.

Well, unlike 1969, there are no "Mets" around to catch the Cubs - who are just waiting for someone to catch them, but no one wants it either.

If the Astros keep this up they are going to be pretty close. The Brewers seem to have a case of "Cubitis." You know, the disease that causes teams to choke down the stretch.

I have to agree with everyone else, I can't see this team making it to the W.S. And even if they do whoever comes out of the AL (either the Angels or the Red Sox) will kick their butts.

Here's what happened this time:

1. Zambrano going down, and Harden being fragile.

2. Wood being put in the closers role when he isn't a closer. Joe Borowski was better.

3. Fukudome choking the last 2 1/2 months. Actually, this guy has been a huge disappointment. They expected big things from him, and he's not much better than Jacque Jones, or Matt Murton.

4. Lee and Ramirez beginning to look old and tired down the stretch. I am shocked that these two would choke as much as they have, but they're Cubs so what else is new.

5. An inconsistent bullpen throughout the year, and the lack of a quality ace. Dempster has been a very good #2, Harden could have been a #2 or a #1 if he didn't have so many arm issues. Lilly has been mediocre to awful throughout most of this season. And Marquis is...uhhh...Marquis. He has performed well for a #5. Better than Lilly as our #3. Zambrano has been the biggest disappointment. He was expected to be our ace, and he has been anything but.

If this does go down as another lost opportunity, I say gut this squad and start over. Get rid of the players that can't handle the pressure (Cedeno, Lee, Fukudome, Wood, Cotts, etc.) and bring in some players that are young, fast, and hungry. Players who are too young, and too dumb, to remember this franchises sorry history. Also, get a new owner who will spend money on scouting and player development so we can begin to build a franchise that knows how to play fundamentally sound baseball.

Here's the players I would keep: Ramirez, Dempster, Marmol, Soriano (only because no one would take on that contract), Johnson, DeRosa, Fontenot, Soto, Zambrano (only if he sees a psychiatrist), and the kids (Smardjzsa, Pie, etc.).

Trade away, or release, the rest.
