The Cubs have a soft schedule from now to the end of the year. 26 of their remaining games are against sub .500 teams…

I submit that if they don’t win AT LEAST 16 of those games (arbitrary number), then they will be even more PATHETIC than most of us could have imagined.

And if I’m not mistaken, they only play 2 teams that are ahead of them in the NL standings (St. Louis and SF)…poor Cubbies!

Do not lose hope sheeple, it’s over until the fat GM chokes!

    …and it’s
    BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
    BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
strikes yur out in the old ballgame.

  2. genrebuster Says:

I meant to post “it’s NOT over until the fat GM chokes”…but maybe I got it right the 1st time…

  3. erniesarmy Says:

Here is a comment from someone who will not accept losing –

“Houston ace Roy Oswalt, who ripped into the Astros after his last start by referring to the “dead feeling” in the clubhouse and claiming the players were just “going through the motions,” allowed two runs over seven innings to notch his eighth win.”

Would a guy like Roy Oswalt stand for the losers in the Cubs clubhouse? First he would go off on all of them, including Loser Lou, then he would demand to be traded to a team that cares.
    =========================

Here’s how those “great” players Hendry signed, and Loser Lou manages, in action after a loss –

“The Cubs insist they are not going through the motions, but the players seemed to be in a hurry to get out of the ballpark after the game. Only a half-hour after the final pitch, most of the players had already showered, dressed and left for home. Few wanted to discuss the Cubs’ wild-card chances, including Piniella.

“Let’s just win some ballgames,” he said. “That’s the only way to approach this thing. You need a little winning streak. You need more consistency winning.

“We’re 3-4 on this homestand. We need to do better.”

Wow, what an insight by Loser Lou, “We need to do better.” Is he a brilliant manager or what?????

Hey Loser Lou, why don’t you resign, then we’ll all do better. The guy is a walking talking parody!!!!!

  4. erniesarmy Says:

So, Mr. Ricketts now that the Cubs are, for all intents and purposes, out of it, when does the firing of gm’s, managers, and coaches commence?

    crickets chirping …

  5. robert Says:

Ernie I hope the Mr Ricketts runs this team a 1/4 as well as the rooney family runs the Pittsburgh Steelers if he does that he will have my support

  6. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Even when Ricketts takes over, it will be a long process to fix this team.

With all of the back loaded contracts, that mess could take up 3-5 years to clean up. With new management in, the new guys will have to clean up the garbage in the minor leagues by drafting/trading to produce a whole core of new talent in that same time period. Then don’t forget that they need to be developed which could take another 2-3 years.

Unfortunately, the mess that Jim Hendry caused this franchise thanks to his stupidity could take anywhere from 5 years up to 10 years to fix.

Unless there is a faster, better method to clean this mess up, this is the best option that I can think of. In the meantime, Louser needs to play the call-ups just to see what this team might actually have for next year.

  7. chucky Says:

Here is something that I find PATHETIC. Yesterday was Sept. 1. Randy Wells, a guy who wasn’t even on the goddamn roster on opening day, became the Cubs first 10 game winner. Not Dempster. Not Zambrano. Not Dick Hard-on.

    Oh boy.

  8. genrebuster Says:

If they can trade Zambrano and/or Dempster –and get players OF EQUAL/GREATER VALUE in return–I’m ok with it.

If Harden can stay healthy—I know that’s a big if–I like his chances. Same with Lilly.

    1. It’s not over till the fat lady sings?

    or

    2. It’s over until the fat GM chokes?

Take your pick…and FIRE JIM HENDRY.

  9. robert Says:

hey hold out hope the cubs may make the wild card

And santa clause will come thisyear

And Milton Bradley will win a nobel Prize

And Lou will have a post game press conference and sound coherent

And Aaron Miles might win the mvp award

And on the final home game the announced crowd might be 1231

    Stranger stuff has happened

  10. chucky Says:

Actually, I think Santa Claus WILL come this year.

  11. robert Says:

you have to admit that will happen before the other things happen on my prior post

  12. erniesarmy Says:

I agree, Genre, trade that vacuum head Zambrano, then Dempster, and Lilly, for some good young top of the line pitching prospects.

Keep Harden and Wells. Get rid of, by any means necessary, Bradley, Soriano, Gregg, Miles, and Fontenot.

The rest can be dealt, or kept, according to their ability to fit into the new system. Those who can’t adapt, you get rid of.

None of this can work until they get rid of Hendry and Piniella. That is the first goal, get those two losers out ASAP.

  13. genrebuster Says:

Ernie, I wouldn’t mind at all if they kept Lilly around for another year…if they trade him, Zambrano and/or Dempster, they better get some good players in return.

AS for “Get rid of, by any means necessary, Bradley, Soriano, Gregg, Miles, and Fontenot.”

Can’t really argue that one although I wouldn’t mind Fontenot hanging around for another year. He has dropped off considerably since last year…but you can say that about most of the Cub’s players. I have a feeling he might bounce back in 2010…don’t know what Fontenot is paid next year but this year it’s 430k….compare that to the others you mentioned.

As far as I’m concerned, this team hasn’t been sold. I’m still waiting for that to happen and Hendry to be fired. Hendry being fired is at he top of my list.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Piniella quits…after all, “what can he do”? BARF

    PATHETIC.

  14. chucky Says:

The sad fact is Soriano isn’t going anywhere. Nobody is stupid enough to take that contract. Again, another brilliant move by our illustrious General Manager, James “Moe” Hendry.

    Stupid fucking bastard.

Good news is I do think Bradley, Gregg and Miles will be long gone by Spring Training 2010.

  15. genrebuster Says:

Soriano and Bradley are Hendry’s greatest “achievements”.

…excuse me while I take my dog out…he can do even better.

  16. chucky Says:

Just make sure you don’t get any Bradley or Soriano on your shoes, genre.

  17. erniesarmy Says:

Here’s something I thought you guys would get a kick out of. It’s from a sheepie who got clocked in another thread about the Cubs “still being in it.”

“We’re six games out with thirty games remaining. That’s plenty of time to make a comeback. You’re calling me an idiot for supporting my team to the end. You must be one of those fake baseball fans that gives up when your team falls behind and starts watching the NFL.”
    …………………………………..

What is it about these people? Do they live in the land Oz with the little people and Zelda the good witch?

I mean, this is a “true fan”? In other words, you have to be blinkered moron to be considered a true baseball fan!

Well then, call me a “fake” baseball fan, because this team is DONE, did you hear that BCBers … DONE!

  18. erniesarmy Says:

I see Soriano made another “great” play out in the field today that cost Dempster a run.

Here’s Lou’s response: “Whadda want me to do, he’s my left fielder? We just have to win some games. Whadda want me to do …. baaaaa … baaaaa…

Hey Louser, read my lips –

    DON’T – PLAY – SORIANO – IN – LEFT – ANY – MORE !!!!!

Ya got that now, MORON! Don’t tell us you don’t know what to do, you do, you just won’t do it.

  19. erniesarmy Says:

This guy Aaron over at Chicago Cubs Online has a good take on what’s going on:

“Again, Hendry and Kenney’s egos got in the way of everything, and they completely ruined the season, and it’s a damn shame is what it is. They didn’t want egg on their face, because they promoted Bradley so hardcore in the offseason as the type of winner that would put us over the top, that if they cut ties with him, it’d be admitting failure. If they’d demoted Gregg earlier, which, if you read between the lines, is EXACTLY what Piniella wanted to do….I believe his exact words were, “you can’t give up the longball as a closer, and expect to win ballgames”. It was clearly an indication that he was tired of using him, but his hands were tied by Hendry, who, as with Bradley, most likely did not want to look bad, giving up a top pitching prospect for a horrible closer without an “out” pitch, and letting go a Cubs fan favorite in Wood.

It’s just so pathetic to watch, and even more pathetic to realize I’m a fan of a team with a GM that flat out does NOT know how to win.

Folks…just think back to 2004 if you need any evidence of how poor of a leader Hendry really is. He let his players run Stone and Caray out of the Cubs booth, and couldn’t tell his players to shut up and play the game.

Now, fast forward to this season. He’s got an $18 million LF who is playing on one leg, and refusing to go on the DL, thus hurting the team considerably with depth, and all kinds of other issues.

Is it really any surprise when we have the peanut gallery running this team?

    PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!”
    ………………………….

Yep, couldn’t have said it any better myself. Oh, he also mentioned Louser’s comments after the game today concerning the performance of White Sox rookie Torrez – “Look, you gotta give the kid credit.”

Thatta boy Louser, keep tipping that cap at the other guys, since you gave them that win today with your brain dead managing!

  20. chucky Says:

    Ernie

You MUST hear this interview from noon today on The Score 670 AM.

    http://www.670thescore.com/The-Danny-Mac-Show—General-Interviews/4574715

This stupid son-of-a-bitch has completely lost it. We really need a new General Manager. Listen to it and tell what you think of Hendry after this interview. Hell, even Dan McNeil had to ask him if he was “on edge”.

Message to Tom Ricketts….CLEAN THE FUCKING HOUSE THIS OFF SEASON!!!!!!!

  21. robert Says:

no one says anything nice about hendry well I am going to say two nice things about him

1 he listened to his mother and always eats everything put before him
2 thank god he is off that kick of signing pitchers coming off arm surgery
    2002 Mike Sirotka
    2003 Ryan Dempster
    2004 Scott Williamson
    2005 2006 2007 Mark Prior

  22. robert Says:

chucky thanks for that link just listned to it that proves he has as much knowledge for putting together a baseball team as his barber does cutting hair

  23. erniesarmy Says:

    Bob Brenly on Bradley –

““The bottom line is, just get the job done. He can point fingers and assign blame wherever he wants and laugh in the face of critics that he can swing the bat from the left side and he can stay healthy, but do it all year long, don’t just do it for a month of the season and proclaim yourself the guy we were looking for. I think Milton Bradley is a much better offensive player then we’ve seen this year, I just think he’s allowed too many distractions to get between his ears, I think he incorrectly blames everybody else for making him the lightning rod. Well if you don’t want to be the lightning rod, then don’t stand on the roof in a thunderstorm with a 1 iron in your hand …. Don’t call it upon yourself, and I think with some of his comments, he’s done that.”
    ………………………………………

If Louser does cash it in after the season, I’m all for giving this guy a go as manager. He has as many WS rings as Piniella, and he is actually in touch with what’s wrong with this team.

  24. erniesarmy Says:

    Chucky –

Thanks for the feed. My opinion is two fold –

    1. Hendry is just playing typical GM rope a dope with the media. He is not going to tell these guys anything regarding what he really thinks, and what kinds of decisions he’s prepared to make. That’s SOP with pro players and management in any sport, unless your name is Ozzie Guillen.

    2. Hendry doesn’t like the questions, but he better get used to them all winter long, because they are not going to stop. He is responsible for this mess and he better be ready to take the blame, or get out.

    3. If Ricketts doesn’t cut this guy loose when he takes control, then nothing changes next year, it will just be more of the same.

    4. All you guys in Chicago are the key in all of this. If the fan base keeps the pressure on, stays away from Wrigley, and the media keeps pushing and pushing, Ricketts will have no choice but to make changes – especially with another losing season.

  25. erniesarmy Says:

    Actually my opinion was four-fold!

  26. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Hendry is an idiot. Plain and simple.

I don’t remember who said it here but someone mentioned that all Hendry had to do was make one change from last year’s team. That change was get rid of Howry and add a more productive bullpen arm. What does he do instead? Turns over nearly half of the team and replaces them with shitty players.

I only wish our team was ran like St. Louis. Say what you want sheeple about LaRussa but he gets management to do whatever it takes to win. Just look at this year. They need a bat so they go out and get Holliday. They feel like their pitching could use an extra arm so they grab Smoltz. And they get the job done.

  27. genrebuster Says:

Well, it’s 3:30am EST, just got in and listened to the Hendry interview (thanks for the heads up robert)…

Yep, Hendry sounded kinda edgy, that’s what he gets for making several STUPID moves.

I wish the Cubs were run like the Cards, too: we wouldn’t be sitting on 101 years of FAILURE if that were the case.

If Big Zero, Soriano and Milton were gone tomorrow, I’d be very happy.

FIRE JIM HENDRY & LARRY ROTHSCHILD (Lou has already quit, I think…don’t bother).

    Just to spite you

  29. Irish Yeti Says:

I’ve written off engaging you guys since it’s pretty much useless but don’t blame Hendry for Soriano: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1752577,CST-SPT-gordo04.article

It also has been well documented that what drove the price so high had nothing to do with the baseball operations side of the team, nor Jim Hendry. It came directly from the top of an organization that was about to put the club up for sale and needed a quick-fix big splash in the free-agent market to make the product more attractive. Former Cubs president John McDonough admitted in 2007 he closed the deal himself, adding years and value to it.

  30. chucky Says:

All I can say is this: Does Gordon Wittenmeyer smoke it or take it the arm? That is the biggest load of bullshit I’ve have ever read. And if anybody around believes that shit, get the goddamned hell out of here and go back to sucking Al Yellons dick.

And stop wasting our time with bullshit.

  31. robert Says:

Jim Hendry went out and signed all those players after the 06 season cause he knew if the cubs did not turn it around quick he was out on his fat ass

  32. robert Says:

yetti that is ok for posting that to spite me I have proven you wrong on more than one occasion

  33. genrebuster Says:

  35. erniesarmy Says:

Irish Betti – “I’ve written off engaging you guys”
    ==================

Then why do you keep coming back?

You must enjoy getting your ass kicked.

  36. erniesarmy Says:

“And about all that money he got: Nobody inside or outside the organization expected to get the eight-year, $136 million value on it — and it has had little effect on other signings along the way.”
    =================

if they didn’t expect to get value, then why offer it?
    ==================
It also has been well documented that what drove the price so high had nothing to do with the baseball operations side of the team, nor Jim Hendry. In other words, Cub management, as usual, has absolutely no idea what they are doing. They sign a guy, not because he will help the team win, not because he’s a winner, not because he will do well in Wrigley, but because they needed a “quick-fix big splash in the free-agent market to make the product more attractive.”

101 years and counting, of absolute pathetic baseball! How’s that “attractive” product looking there Irish Betti? You and Gordon must be buddies, neither one of you has anything functional between the ears.

Am I now to believe this was John McDonoughs fault too? Did McDonough hold a gun to Hendrys head and Sign Kevin fucking Gregg? That our chances of winning the World Series just dramatically increase with the addition of John fucking Grabow?

No!!!!!!! GODDAMNIT ALL TO FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This falls on one guy, and only one guy……MOE FUCKING HENDRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  38. chucky Says:

Those stats turned out looking like shit. Let’s try this.

    Gregg…….IP-0, hits-2, runs-2, earned runs-2, no walks. no strikeouts.

    Grabow…..IP-0, hits-4, runs-3, earned runs-3, 1 walks. no strikeouts.

The rest of my post was perfect.

  39. genrebuster Says:

Kevin FUCKING Gregg strikes again! He ain’t fooling nobody with half a brain.

Sasquatch won’t be engaging ANYBODY as long as his tongue remains engaged in Hendry’s ass!

    BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The Cubs aren’t out of it yet! Those lovable losers are at it again, they never give up…

chucky, I thought your post hit the mark on the 1st attempt.

    FIRE JIM HENDRY.

ATTENTION: The Cubs are a MOST PATHETIC professional sports organization. The long-suffering real fans deserve better…let’s hope that the team will indeed be sold…and that the new owner will have the brains and balls to make some drastic changes…they are needed.

  43. ksmc2000 Says:

When Hendry recieved an open checkbook following the 06 season, he was so concerned with landing the biggest fish in the free agent pond, that he didn’t even have a plan as to how he was going to use him or where he would play. And he outbid himself by 40 mil and three more years of service than any other team in baseball was willing to offer. He fell for the same bullshit with Jackass Jones by overpaying and extending the offer to three years just because the Cardinals showed mild interest. That worked out well. Soriano’s contract should have not been longer than four or five years. At least Ricketts would have only been on the hook for a year or two. But He’s stuck with this useless piece of shit for five more years at 18 mil or more. Does anybody think that Soriano is gonna get any better at baseball than he is right now? I highly doubt it.

  44. Irish Yeti Says:

    Hey, Irish Betti –

Chucky just did a complete vivisection on your argument.

    Care to respond?

    crickets chirping …

I was out at HS football. Greatest shit on the earth. Sorry, I didn’t get back in time. This is against my better judgement, because you guys are pretty dumb. I mean, you have this notion in your head that you’ve proved me wrong, but you just made yourself sound more like idiots. Clearly, you’ll disagree, but that’s neither here nor there.

As far as Chucky’s argument, are you referencing the Soriano part? If so, then I wasn’t saying the rest of his article was worth a darn but he made a point that would make complete sense. I can fully see an organization that looks like it wants to win is worth more than a franchise that models the Pirates. Makes enough sense.

    If you were referencing his:
Am I now to believe this was John McDonoughs fault too? Did McDonough hold a gun to Hendrys head and Sign Kevin fucking Gregg? That our chances of winning the World Series just dramatically increase with the addition of John fucking Grabow?

No!!!!!!! GODDAMNIT ALL TO FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This falls on one guy, and only one guy……MOE FUCKING HENDRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
My response to that was that I made the Soriano point because it very well might not have been MOE HENDRY’s fault for Soriano’s big contract.

Also, why do people confuse “sign” and “trade”. Hendry traded for Gregg, not signed him. When you can’t even figure out how he was acquired, it just makes you look dumb. As far as Grabow and “dramatically increase”: That was Grabow’s first runs allowed since he had been acquired. First in a month.. So, you base your whole Grabow anger over one outing? That’s just dumb and reactionary like always. You and your cohorts have been bitching about the sale for a while now. You know that because the sale wasn’t final, it restricted the deals that could be made, right? There isn’t a lot that Hendry could do at the deadline. I’m not saying Hendry isn’t at fault for this year, but I’m just saying that if you are going to go on a stupid rant about him, please do so in an intelligent fashion.. Intelligent fashion doesn’t mean use caps and exclamation marks.

  45. robert Says:

Yetti I am going to tell you one last time Hendry went on that spending spree in 06 cause he knew if another last place finish happened it would be his ass.

Hendry builds this ball club the way you would ops whip etc stats that look good on paper but dont mean jack shit

  46. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

    Yeti,

Your arguments have shitty analysis. You still after all of this shit that has been going with this franchise the last few years support Hendry and his stupid decisions. You still support Gregg even though he has thrown nearly 10 games this season. You still think he is a respectable pitcher after he has lost nearly 10 games?

You are out of your fucking mind. Now I think a starting pitcher sucks when he loses 10 games, but we are talking about a reliever. That is absurd. Go back to wherever you came from. I am guessing a trailer somewhere in the deep south.

  47. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

By the way, if I am not mistaken, Gregg has 7 losses so far to his record but I said he lost nearly 10 games and that is probably true. He has gotten close to blowing many more games. Now, we’ll be nice and say that if Gregg had just lost 3 of those games, I would agree with you and say he is having a respectable season. He would only blow 3 games and this team would only be a few games out of the Wild Card. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case.

One last thing for you regulars here, I love my wife more than anything but she had a “Dusty” moment the other day. Our kitchen sink was clogged and she didn’t know what caused it. I found out the drain had some food in it so I told her that it has to go in the garbage from now on. She told me the following: “Food doesn’t clog the sink.” I replied back, “Dusty said walks clog the bases” just like food clogs the sink. Sigh.

  48. chucky Says:

I guess I’m just dumb like Yeti says, but just how am I dumb and reactionary as usual when we’ve all (myself included) been bitching about this shit all year long? You see, to me, that suggests that the bullshit has been going on all year long. Hence, it’s not dumb and reactionary.

And by the way Yeti, intelligence isn’t measured by supporting a completely underperforming team. A team that was picked by many experts to not only win the central division, by even the World Series. So just stop trying to pass yourself off as being smart. Because you aren’t.

  49. Irish Yeti Says:

    Robert: stats dont mean shit

This is why it’s next to useless to engage you. You understand that stats are the results of what happens in games right? And those are a pretty good indicator of what *is* going to happen. They aren’t 100%, however, they are scientifically a much better indicator than your personal thoughts, for numerous reasons.

As far as Gregg, he has been horrendous since August. That is true. Don’t sit here and think that you were the ultimate predictor. The reason you were right about Gregg doesn’t stem to “intelligent analysis” but instead it stems to your hatred of everything Cubs. You guys are negative about everything with the Cubs. You expect everything that can go wrong to go wrong, just because you guys hate this team. That’s fine though.

You are out of your fucking mind. Now I think a starting pitcher sucks when he loses 10 games, but we are talking about a reliever. That is absurd. Go back to wherever you came from. I am guessing a trailer somewhere in the deep south.

The fact that Gregg has lost 7 games is bad. However, you pointed out losing 10 games by a starter means he sucks. This is why you need to understand that Win-Loss by a pitcher is not the ultimate stat to go with. Case in point: Jake Peavy. In 2008, he had a 2.85 ERA, 166 Ks in 173 IP, and a 1.180 WHIP (which is pretty good for those who don’t like stats). Great season right? Well he was 10-11. Oh, so by MSS’s standards, he sucks. That couldn’t be further from the truth. That’s a perfect example of why you guys look at the wrong stats.

Yetti I am going to tell you one last time Hendry went on that spending spree in 06 cause he knew if another last place finish happened it would be his ass.

Hendry builds this ball club the way you would ops whip etc stats that look good on paper but dont mean jack shit

Apparently Robert has an inside track to what Hendry is thinking when he makes moves. Can you tell me something then? Next time, you have your communication with Hendry, ask him what donuts he likes most.

And OPS is a significant stat. Deny it if you will, but it is. I’m sure you guys still think MB sucks. And for that reason, that’s why I chose for a while not to engage you and I really don’t feel like doing it too much longer. It’s a waste of my time and effort.

    Intrepid Reader: FDB Posters

THAT’S BECAUZ WE PROOVE YOU RONG ALL THE TIEM!!!! BAAAA BAAA BAAA BLAK SHEEP

  50. genrebuster Says:

What sucks the most about MB is his attitude…not good for the team.

    Gregg stinks, plain and simple.

Yeti, nobody here is twisting your arm to contribute because there are some key points that apparently you don’t understand…if you want to stay away, I can assure you that none of us will be offended.

Why don’t you start your own blog? I bet you’d find a whole new group of people who disagree with your positions, wouldn’t that be more interesting (for you)?

Apparently you haven’t been following the Cubs long enough to have a feel for what most of us are fed up with.

Fact: The earth is round and was created more than 5000 years ago.

Fact: The Chicago Cubs organization has been operated in a PATHETIC fashion for too many years.

Fact: Your childish arguments are BORING. Have a BLESSED weekend.

  51. Irish Yeti Says:

    Genre,
I was looking the other day for an alternative. A blog that had shittier opinions than yours. I guess BCB could work even though there has been some strides made when it comes to understanding and believing in Sabermetrics. Yellon is still a chode, but it’s tough to engage when I’ve been banned. I guess Bad News Cubs would work, but he’s not giving me too much material these days. Disappointing. Unless I find a more fucked up alternative, I’ll continue reading and laughing at the idiotic posts with the occassional jump in.

  52. genrebuster Says:

Yeti, one thing I do know for certain is that humor is important and worth taking seriously…I’m glad you find us entertaining and that “we” make you laugh…really!

Just because our opinions differ from yours doesn’t make them shitty or idiotic…just different. See, that’s the childish part of Yeti getting in the way of the more evolved Yeti. As jimmy d tried to point out to you, some of us have a larger data pool of “experience” to draw from when it comes to the Cubs. I’m not saying that we’re smarter than you…or not.

I wonder how many people have been banned at BCB (really)? On second thought, who cares? BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  53. genrebuster Says:

Morpheus: you’ve been very quiet lately….

    dooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!

  54. robert Says:

yetti the best place for you would be cbssportsline.com they would love your opinions over there…I got critcized there last year when they bought up a thread about the cubs winning 100 games. and I said I dont care about 100 wins all I care about is 11 wins in the post season….

You still have not came up with a counter to what I showed has happened in the games after gregg pretended the game was a cock and blew it….

  55. Irish Yeti Says:

Counter to that? Anomaly. Gregg blew a save and then the Cubs sucked for a few days right? That was your point. So are you saying that Gregg cause the subsequent losses? If he didn’t play in them, then he didn’t have anything to do with the losses after his blown save. If you believe in that magical momentum thing, then there’s no hope for actual discourse with you

  56. chucky Says:

And yet you keep trying. Why is that?

  57. robert Says:

Yetti I normally dont respond to personal attacks but I am going to respond to this one

You are out of your fucking mind. Now I think a starting pitcher sucks when he loses 10 games, but we are talking about a reliever. That is absurd. Go back to wherever you came from. I am guessing a trailer somewhere in the deep south.

I dont like to talk about my financial situation but I own my own home I have a personal chef I have a nanny for my child I probably paid more income tax then you earned last year

  58. Irish Yeti Says:

Respond to personal attacks? You must be one sensitive cunt to think my last post was a personal attack. I just stated how your assumption was wrong. (now that second sentence was a personal attack. Not the third, in case you didn’t figure it out)

Playing the income card? I’m impressed. If you made more than me, what does that mean? It still doesn’t mask the fact that you type like my 5 yr old niece would. You have a personal chef. Wow. You should invest in an editor while you’re at it. A nanny too. Cool. I guess the only thing I measure up to you on is the fact that I own a home too. The rest, I seem to fall short on. You might have paid more income tax than what I made last year. That’s probably true. What does that prove though? You’re better than me because you made more than me? So, since More Money = Better than/Smarter, does that mean GW Bush (or Barack Obama, in case you’re a republican) are smarter than and better than you? I guess it does.

Next thing, I know you’re going to tell me you have a larger penis than me.

  59. genrebuster Says:

    Yeti.

    You are truly PATHETIC.

I hope that you and your penis have a great weekend. Your girlfriend–or boyfriend–must be very, very proud of you. Grow up, little man. Or not!

  60. erniesarmy Says:

“This is why it’s next to useless to engage you. You understand that stats are the results of what happens in games right? And those are a pretty good indicator of what *is* going to happen. They aren’t 100%, however, they are scientifically a much better indicator than your personal thoughts, for numerous reasons.”

= This is a perfect example of someone who thinks knowing statistics equals superior baseball intelligence.

Hey Betti, I mean “Genius” –

The Cubs were statistically better than the Diamondbacks in 07, yet were swept, why?
The Cubs were statistically better than the Dodgers last year, and were swept, why?
The Cubs were statistically better that the 84 Padres, and had the lead 2-0, and were swept in San Diego, with, I might add, the current Cy Young award winner on the mound for the final game with a 3-0 lead going into the sixth! What happened, Mr. Stat Man?????

I could go on, but your stupidity is too hard to keep up with, you leave me winded.
    ………………….

This one is too cute – “I was looking the other day for an alternative. A blog that had shittier opinions than yours.”

The irony in that is truly delicious!

Look, man, you are a parasite in need of a host, try Al Yellon again, he could use a buddy right now, his beloved “Cubbies” are circling the drain.

You see, you little turd, we are not “Cubbie” fans on this site, we are Cub fans. We are sick and tired of losing, you, on the other hand, are quite content with losing. That is why, for you, Kevin Gregg is a “serviceable” closer and quite effective. For us, he’s just another bum brought in by an incompetent GM that puts us back even further from a World Series title. For you, there’s always next year. For us, next year has come and gone.

That’s the difference, and that’s the reason you’ll never get the perspective of the true Cub fan, because you are the arch-typical “Cubbie” fan. As long as this franchise has “fans” like you things will never change.

100 years? Hah! Be prepared for another 100 years of miserable losing, as long as the Cub management can count out nit wits like you that put up with this crap year after year. You are pathetic.

Any fan with a brain would know that the playoffs are a crapshoot. Talent doesn’t guarantee success. Over a 162 game season, a team’s talent is shown via their record. Over a 5 game series, anyone can win. The fact that you don’t know that is not surprising.

  64. Irish Yeti Says:

a team’s talent the phrase I was actually mean was “talent and performance”

  65. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

    Yeti,

The playoffs aren’t always a crapshoot. Arizona in 02, Boston in 04, South Side in 05, Boston again in 07.

03 and 06 were an exception with Florida and the St. Louis. So two out of the last nine seasons where the playoffs were a “crap shoot”.

Last year, with Philly. They were the best team in the NL. Read this:

    https://firedustybaker2.wordpress.com/2008/08/31/do-not-tell-me-to-calm-down/

Fro, call him whatever you want, said it right on the money in August of last year. Philly was the best team in the NL.

  66. chucky Says:

Another stellar performance by the useless sack of shit named Kevin Gregg. Jesus fucking Christ I hate this fucking guy.

  67. Matt Stairs Superfan Says:

Kevin Gregg makes me want to play the drinking game I played in ’04 with my roommates. Every time LaTroy or LaGasCan as latroyhawkinssucks.com use to call him many years ago, we played the game of if he walked a batter, one drink, base hit, two drinks, etc. You get the picture.

Yeti, what do you have to say about Gregg? You still think he is a respectable pitcher?

  68. chucky Says:

Matt…Playing that game with that shitstain Gregg pitching would lead to some serious alcohol poisoning. I wouldn’t try it.

  69. erniesarmy Says:

Irish Betti -“You understand that stats are the results of what happens in games right? And those are a pretty good indicator of what *is* going to happen.”
    ……………………………………

Irish Betti – “Any fan with a brain (sorry to hear about your loss, Betti) would know that the playoffs are a crapshoot. Talent doesn’t guarantee success. Over a 162 game season, a team’s talent is shown via their record.”
    ………………………..
I used your own criteria for success in baseball and applied it to the most important games of the season, and then you start to backpedal. I destroyed your premise that statistics are the best measurement of team success, and you start whining that the playoff comparison isn’t fair since they are a “crapshoot.”

Listen, Spanky, the more you type the deeper you go. My suggestion is you go back to what you do best – frightening little children.

  70. Irish Yeti Says:

ernie, you might be the dumbest out of them all. Well, maybe not dumber than Rich Robert.

Stats don’t indicate what will happen in every fucking play of every fucking game you idiot.

I’ll move on to MSS’s post about crapshoot..

04 Red Sox? They were better than the Yanks? 2002 Oakland wasn’t the best team in baseball? 2001 Seattle wasn’t the best team ever? They didn’t win the WS.

Tampa was the best in 08.
Boston was best in 07 (WS)
Either Tigers or Yanks were the best in 06.
In 05, Sox and Cardinals were the best teams: only one made the WS.
In 04, Best team was Cardinals.
    Yanks were best in 03.
    Oakland was best in 02.
    Seattle was best in 01.
    Giants were best in 00.

Out of the 9 years I listed, the best team won the WS 2x… That’s 22% of the time. In other words, the best teams can fall in a 5 or 7 game series quite often. The playoffs are a crapshoot. Luckiest team wins WS.

  71. Irish Yeti Says:

I should probably explain this a little more to Ernie, because I know how much he can perceive things. Stats give you a damn good indication of what will happen over the course of a season, or a month, or a half. They don’t explain every single occurrence in a game.

  72. erniesarmy Says:

“ernie, you might be the dumbest out of them all. Well, maybe not dumber than Rich Robert. Stats don’t indicate what will happen in every fucking play of every fucking game you idiot.”

That’s strange, you did say this right?

Irish Betti -”You understand that stats are the results of what happens in games right? And those are a pretty good indicator of what *is* going to happen.”
    ………………………………….
You said that stats “are a pretty good indicator of what is going to happen,” and I shot holes through your argument with just a few cogent examples, and you come back huffing, “That’s not fair, I didn’t mean every play in every game! Yes, I said it is a ‘pretty good indicator of what is going to happen,’ but I didn’t mean it that way!”

So, which is it Porky? Are stats a good indicator or are they not?

Dumb? Hey, Einstein, when they passed out brains, yours was still in the crapper.

  73. erniesarmy Says:

irish Betti – “I should probably explain this a little more to Ernie, because I know how much he can perceive things.”
    ……………………………

Yeah, I know, you being a child and all, traversing the canyon that separates you from adult perception can get quite taxing.

  74. Kevin Gregg Says:

Yeti, Thanks for sticking up for me. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be around…but since those fucking losers Hendry and Piniella don’t have a clue, you never know…I could be back next year! Crane kinda likes me…and I hear that you do, too…big winkie!

  75. chucky Says:

If you were the real Kevin Gregg, I’d would ask you for the chance to meet you face to face. I have only one thing to say to you: Go fuck yourself, you useless asshole.

  76. E=MC2 Says:

I apologize for my prolonged absence….I’ve been spending some time in the lab, studying successful professional sports organizations and Wall St. executives.

“Try Al Yellon again, he could use a buddy right now, his beloved “Cubbies” are circling the drain.”

    Sheer poetry.

“Betti, Nitwit, Genius, Stat man, Little Turd, Parasite, Porky…”

I left out Einstein, Ernie (for obvious reasons); but I must say that you are on a roll.

After reviewing my calculations I fully expect the Irish juvenile to continue on his same useless path for years to come…I’m afraid that’s what too many statistics will do for you.

    Fondly, Albert

  77. genrebuster Says:

(one more time) FIRE JIM HENDRY.

Why not? What else is there to lose?

SHOW DA FIRE AND PASSION, MY FRENDT!
